Definition as it applies to our work:
 
 
This is the effect of chemicals released on the overall ecosystem.  Two possible measures from the US EPA TRACI tool are:
 
Photochemical Smog or Ozone:  This also has human health effects.  The amount of VOC precursers related to a product can be measured in a variety of ways including Abiotic Oxidation Potential.
 
Ecotoxicity:  This is a measure of damage to the ecosystem using the common pesticide 2,4 D (Roundup?) as a baseline.
2) Chemical impacts related to the overall ecosystem with the defined hazard and risk of exposure. gs.
