FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Certification

FSC certification guarantees that wood and wood products came from a certified well-managed forest. Certification is based on a set of 10 principles and 57 criteria that address legal issues, indigenous rights, labor rights, multiple benefits and environmental impacts surrounding forest management.  FSC certification is the only certification that ensures that wood products and fibers for paper products do not originate from old growth forests, clear cuts, biologically diverse areas or illegally logged forests.

In many forests around the world, logging contributes to habitat destruction, displacement of indigenous peoples, and violence against people who work in the forest and the wildlife that dwells there.

FSC is an international non-profit organization founded in 1993 to support environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world's forests.
