Materials - Processing

This term is a "category" for the EWG Framework
 
Definition as it applies to our work: Processing is the third of three stages of material production.  Included in this part of the materials supply chain is the processing of the commodity product in question into a something a manufacturer would buy to assemble a product.
 
Examples
 
polyester yarn is woven to make polyester fabric  (including weaving, dyeing, etc.)
 
cotton yarn is woven to make cotton fabric (including weaving, dyeing, etc.)

Issues and Concerns
We will need to provide more clarity regarding the "boundaries" between 1) Feedstock = "raw components", 2) Raw materials = manufacturing of the base substrate, 3) Material Processing = finishing of the base substrate.
